This island is one of the most interesting in terms of human history and was one of the earliest islands to be inhabited. In 1793 a post office barrel was erected to facilitate delivery of mail to the United States and Europe( this area is now known as Post Office Bay). In addition, there is a lava tube that extends to the sea and the remains of a Norwegian fish drying and canning operation. |
